Letters From Kids

Dear Weird Club,
Do I have news for you.  This letter is going to be the most weirdest one yet.  I have felt and seen weird things in my lifetime.  For  instance, when I was going home from my cub scouts and we were dropping off my friend,  I saw something very weird.  It was a light in ball form. I wasn't sure if it was a UFO, a ghost orb or maybe it was just a light.  I never saw it again after that.  I've also experienced things that I thought I'd seen before.  If I see something on t.v. and it is a new episode and it looks familiar, I am thinking  I've seen it somewhere before. Do you think it is dejavu or do I have a little ESP?  Another incident is sometimes when I am out of breath or when I am doing something.  I feel like I am in a dream state.  Is it normal or is there something wrong with me?  Last, one time I had a  dream and there was a UFO.  We were very near home and I told my mom that was a UFO.  My mom said o.k. and was not paying attention and my mom screamed.  We drove home fast.  Do you think this means something or is this a regular old dream?  Please tell me  if the light orb thing is a light orb or a UFO...PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME.

Dear Weird Club,
I am a girl who is twelve years old and I am in the sixth grade when I was in the forth grade I heard stories of the legendary bloody mary and not only from students but from teachers to my teacher told me her brother went to branch brook park in Newark, NJ when it was raining and he swore he saw a woman with a white dress and a bloody face so I decided to go to branch brook park with a bunch of friends we all stood in front of this tree at 10 o'clock in the night I swore to god I saw a white dress hanging on the tree and then a skull as I got closer I heard someone whisper and said “where’s my baby.” I got scared and ran since my cousin didn’t believe me he decided to hold a lighted candle in the bathroom at 12 o'clock sharp with the lights off he said blody mary 13 times and saw her and he had scratches on his face when I saw him now he is in a local hospital because people think he is mental but to tell you the truth I believe him and now people also think that his family abuses him but I hope he hears this to tell him how much I love him and this is my story of bloody mary.

Dear Weird Club,
In Riverside NJ on a street called Hooker Street there is a house. There is known to be one ghost in the upper level of the house, of a little 7-13 year old girl. The story is that the little girl was playing by the window and the window was open.
The girl fell out the window and busted her head open on the cement in the driveway/dirt. She died at the seen and there was no chance to save her.
The neighbors have a sense that the little girl still is with them. My mom Heather (same name) has seen the little girl once. My mom told me that she was on pain killers at the time and that she could have imagined it, but she saw the little girl. She saw the little girl wearing an old fashioned 70's to 80's dress. She was sitting in my moms old wicker chair staring at my mom like who are you and what are you doing in my house. My mom was terrified and ran into her bedroom and turned on the light. My mom also had an incident where she was going through boxes when she heard someone going through them. She heard stuff being torn through and felt un welcomed. I remember my mom telling me a story about how when I was little I decided to dangle from the attic window on my stomach. My mom freaked out and ran and screamed at me to never do it again. Why I did it I don’t know, but I know that I did have imaginary friends and that makes me think. Now I am a whole thirteen years old and I love this magazine!!!!
Anyway, if anyone has any information please write!!!!

Dear Weird Club,
I was raised in Bound Brook, NJ. When I was 14 I was dared to run through Pig Lady woods, when I did, I ran and fell into a ditch, I put my flash light on and saw grave stones of infant's that died in the 1800’s and it scared me and I ran to the street where my friends were.

Dear Weird Club,
A few years ago, I was in my grandparent's backyard in Bloomfield, NJ, when something with horns jumped over the fence and ran away. I ran in the house to tell my grandpa, but he wouldn't believe me. I know I saw something weird!

Dear Weird Club,

I have two stories for you. The first one takes place in my old house in Wyalusing, PA. I was asleep, as I was either 6 or 7. My mom was in the hospital, so my dad had to stay home. He went to the dark kitchen to get a drink, and he saw this dark circle thing on the counter. Dad thought it was our grey cat, Jenny. Then he realized he just let the cat out.
When Mom came back, she saw it too when she was sweeping or washing dishes. Mom called it “The Fuzzy”. She told me, when I asked what it was, that it was an orb of energy or a ghost.
Once, I got sent to my room, so I sat on my chair. I felt an animal scratching under it. I looked and nothing was there. I thought it was one of our animals, so I checked the room. Nothing. I was creeped out, so I sat on my bed. The same thing happened!
The next story is very CREEPY! We were heading to a house a friend told us about because we were looking for a new house. On the property was a burnt cross, beheaded trees, and all the plant life was dead. The windows were boarded up. We went in through the back door. There wasn’t much light, but we could see the kitchen. It looked like it had been empty for awhile. All of a sudden, my brother got hysterical. He wanted out!
Mom told Dad to take us outside. She went to explore. Mom was going toward the stairs. She saw a dim light on the stairs. As she went further, it got brighter. The light suddenly felt like warm sunlight. Mom felt overwhelming dread, like something was gonna smother her. When she got out, my brother was still crying. When she asked what made him cry, he said, “The scary man with nine white dogs.”

Dear Weird Club,

I was at my friend’s house and my bike was in the front. We were in the back, and then we heard a bike bell. Then we went to the front to see if it was mine. So we went in the front and it was my bike! So we went to my garage and it was there, then we saw a ghost next to it.

Dear Weird Club,

The reason I have written this is because I have a theory - a theory that I hope you listen to because it could achieve new evidence of what might UFOs be. This theory has been tested but I’m not sure if it was ever proven, because no one knows what causes it. Just to let you know, my theory is a type of phenomenon called ‘Ball Lightning’, which sounds very familiar to UFO sightings because of how it is described by witnesses. What happens is you get a bolt of lightning that carries an object, and it looks like a comet made of electricity. The ball reaches a few centimeters to a couple of meters. The phenomenon reaches from blue lights, to red, to white, and etc. The scary thing is that this phenomenon goes into people’s houses (sometimes) and chases them. What might cause this is that the human body emits electricity and the ball chases it like a magnet. What I’m saying is that this type of phenomenon is doing the same thing with cars on the ground and is acting like a magnet, until it’s identified as a UFO.
I would suggest to search this phenomenon on Google. One more thing I would do is to do a lot of testing, just to prove my theory, because I’m curious.

Dear Weird Club,

My name is Kelsey, my bro is Timmy, and we want to tell you about our backyard ghost.
We were playing in our backyard at 7:00. We were playing tag. So I ran behind the pool and my bro came after me. So when we went behind our pool, it is so big it got dark. Timmy and I saw a white person-like thing. We ran in to tell our mom and dad. They did not believe us. We got a flashlight and when we got out, it was gone. To this day, we still do not know what it was.

Dear Weird Club,

Now this is all 100% true. I live in Metuchen, NJ. I’m going to tell you a story about a ghost who is unknown. He used to attend this school, but he flunked out, and on the last day of school him and his mom got into a car accident and he died on impact.
Now he comes back to haunt my school. Every time before math class, the door knob will turn and the door will open. Now, supposedly, math was his worst subject, and the door opens every day at the same time. It’s like he comes back to learn more math. But if you say it’s time for math when it’s not, he won’t come. It’s like he memorized the schedule. Also, it looks like he doesn’t learn either, because when my teacher says an easy math problem like 2 X 2, you’ll hear a voice say, “8, that was easy.”

Dear Weird Club,
I am a pretty big fan of Weird NJ. I live in Hills Borough, N.J., and I’ve read any of your magazines and I own your book, and I am very surprised that I can’t find one of the weirdest abandoned places in NJ in any of them. It’s called the Belle Mead General Depot, but we call it Anne Vann Depot, because it surrounds Anne Van Middlesworth Park. Anyway, It’s a massive abandoned Government Military facility, which was active probably around WWII and completely abandoned around 1970. My friends and I like to explore it a lot, and we go back all the time, always finding something new. Some of the things we found back there include:
2 shooting practice ranges with old bullet shells.
The Main HQ house, complete with control room.
Small armory houses.
Barracks.
Water tower with pump station.
Giant depot complex.
Depot warehouse.
Magnese piles.
Miles of torn up railroads.
Structures and items we cannot identify.
Manholes and sewers.
We have found many things, all abandoned and being reclaimed by nature. One thing that we haven’t found is a safe rumored to be an underground room. We don’t know it exists or not, though. We like to hang out back there because no one ever goes back there and we know how to get around. If this place sounds like an interesting addition to your magazine and books, please contact me. My friends and I would be more than happy to take a weekend to show you around all the places I’ve listed. I could even get you a map of the place if you want. We would love to help you keep your Magazines new and interesting. If you are interested in us guiding your through the old train depot, please contact me or call me or email me. I look forward to arranging a date to explore the place, as long as it is above 39 degrees Fahrenheit.
I f you do come, bring some sort of small transportation, like a bike or something, because the whole complex is massive, but paved.

Dear Weird Club,
Elm Drive is a little street that runs parralell to Golf Road, Illinois Route 58. It (Elm Drive) runs between a Best Buy parking lot and Western Avenue, but both ends are fenced off. The only way to get there is through Greenwood Drive. Ignore the “Local Traffic Only” sign. It’s 100% not enforced, and the sign just came up in 2004. On the east end us a house, It doesn’t look as bad as before they cleaned it up, but it’s still weird. The previous “owner” lived in their van. I once stood in the Best Buy parking lot and saw the empty house’s back curtains move. I said to myself, “now all we need is a translucent face to glare at us from the top window.” If you update sites you already did, and put this in, do research so this doesn’t sound like the same old weird (spell wrong) house.

Dear Wierd Club,
Rhinelander is like the rest of Wisconsin – it wierds me out. I’m an Illinoisian who’s family used to vacation there. Our anonymous resort had one cottage that all but one year that we went there we had. I heard footsteps. It probably wasn’t a squirrel that got in like the one year we weren’t in there. The train museum is good, but the life-sized dummies or statues, whatever they are…Rock Road was a road that we noticed when we were lost. There was a rock (of course) in the middle of the road. Either there was a missing “Private Property” sign and they reinforced it, they expect people to find another way in, or its just a rocked-off road with no purpose. And Circle Drive isn’t a circle, it’s a confusing, winding road. It looks like a short cut between Lake Thompson Road and Shore Dr., but it takes longer.

- Will B.

Dear Weird Club,
My father grew up on that road, in a house between the cemetery and Rainbow Road. I’d make it more detailed, but it’s still in my family, and my cousins live there. I always come from the east. I only passed up Rainbow Road once (I for some reason like to check out roads with odd names, but not I know there’s that thing there…Thanks for the warning), and I never passed up the cemetery. It’s not to creepy. If you figure out where my cousins live, leave them alone (that’s an order, not a beg).

Dear Weird Club,
Hey what is up? It is me Adam. You might not remember me but I love your book. I made honor roll again! I have had perfect attendance from 2nd grade until now. I am in 7th grade. I hope to get it this year too. My dad says hello! I live in Lakehurst and we have a lake. Behind the lake we have a path that is twisted like Gravity Hill. I call it Gravity Hil Jr. You should come and see it. Please write back. Thank you.

I named both of my fish after you two guys. Mark and Mark. I got board that is why I did your address that way! Hey did I tell you…wait I didn’t. My birthday is Oct. 13 Friday the 13th. Is that crazy. That’s it, bye.

Your Weird Friend - Adam G.

Dear Weird Club,
I am a 13 year old boy who has lived in a small town called Clark all my life. I have never seen anything unusual here except what I discovered a few years ago. When I was riding my bike I noticed a small house (super super small) covered with debris and brush all around. I think it is weird, it is like a house for a midget. I think it is cool. I’ve never heard of cults or demonic doings and I hope not. I just think it gives our town a cool feeling and it is weird. I hope you include this. Contact back please.

Dear Weird Club,

I read your book and thought it was great. My dad has all the weird books and bought me the Weird Club. I look forward to the next book. I live in Florida and my dad likes to look for the Skunk Ape. the Skunk Ape is like Bigfoot, only it lives in Florida. One night when we were out looking for it, we heard some sounds like a bird, only it did not sound quite like a bird. We listened to the sounds for 30 minutes. The sounds started to get closer, so we found ourselves a hiding place to wait and see what was making the sounds. Whatever it was came about 100 feet from where we hiding. We also heard something large moving through the woods. It was nightime so we did not get a good look at it. It was a good thing my dad was there because I was really scared. It may not have been a Skunk ape. Florida has bears, large pigs, and panthers. Also alligators, but we were not near the swamp so I do not think it was a alligator. My dad is planning another trip now that it is cooling down outside. He says this time of year is a good time to see them if they exist. Take care.
