The Crier

In El Paso, Texas, we have the most famous crying ghost of all! They call her La Llorona. That means “The Crier” in Spanish. But this time, the crier isn’t the ghost of the baby that died. It’s the ghost of the grief-stricken mother.

She’s cursed to forever wander the riverbanks, crying for her dead children. And she’s so lonely that she often tries to lure people into the water. She hopes that they’ll drown so that they can keep her company.

Sometimes, she appears as a lady in white and sometimes as a hybrid beast with the body of a woman and the head of a horse.

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Maybe La Llorona and the Donkey Lady are sisters!
